GREENOCK...

Greenock is a 'Big Woolwich' motor built in 1936 by Harland & Wolff as part of the town class fleet of the Grand Union Canal Carrying Company. She passed into the British Waterways carrying fleet in 1948 and was later leased to Willow Wren.

Greenock loaded with coal in 1964 whilst working for Willow Wren

She is now being restored by Brinklow Boats back to full working trim including a new riveted engine room cabin. The majority of the steel work was completed by Steve Priest with help by Simon Wain and Dave Ross with the riveting.

Work is now continuing on Greenock. The cabin frames have now been fixed into position by Rex Wain.

The inner planks of the cabin have now been fitted to Greenock, and the plywood outer layer fastened into position. The cabin has now been painted in BW blue primer and Rex Wain is adding the finishing touches e.g. hatch runners etc.
