A time-served boat and ship builder, Rex Wain has 33 years of experience, making him both a leading authority and a producer of the finest and most correct work on the canal. He is regarded a master craftsman in the building of narrowboat back cabins and all wooden parts of the narrowboat, using measurements taken from numerous original examples; either his own or from those restored for customers.
For example Camel, Peacock, Scorpio, Clypeus and recently Greenock a 1936 Grand Union motor boat. In addition he fits out modern interiors in a traditional style using a wide variety of hardwoods.
Also at Brinklow are David Gunby and Ken Brenchley who undertake all styles of interior fit out from those derived from the traditional boatman’s cabin, to modern and functional, as well as specially commissioned highly ornate interiors using decorative hardwoods. BBS is happy to source antique furniture and fittings for inclusion in custom fit-outs.
